Offset is the ultimate commercial printing technology, and involves ink being "offset" from a printing plate to a rubber roller then to paper. Running at up to 20,000 impressions per hour, and capable of printing 10 colours plus coating on one pass, our Heidelberg presses handle just about any job. They are unsurpassed for exact colour matching and supreme quality. Offset is most economical for longer print runs.
The HP Indigo is a digital SRA3 sheetfed press which produces print quality close to offset. Indigo uses liquid toner - called electrostatic ink. This is a point of difference from other sheetfed digital systems. Like offset printing ink, Indigo electrostatic ink is absorbed into the paper. Liquid toner technology enables Indigo presses to produce a premium digital output.
Our fleet of dry toner SRA3 digital presses include models from Canon, Konica, Oce and Fuji Xerox. Unlike traditional printing inks and liquid toners, dry toner is not absorbed into the paper, but sits on top and is fused to the paper with heat. These systems are used to print in full colour and mono applications, are a more economical alternative for short runs, and produce a very good digital output.
Our HP Latex wide format presses print up to 6500mm wide and produce crisp, eye-catching, high quality imagery that is light-fast and scratch resistant. HP Latex inks are water-based and more environmentally friendly than eco-solvent and low solvent inks. The Blue Star Direct large format posters are produced on these presses.
Our Acuity Advance HS flatbed printers are considered a true breakthrough in wide format UV digital imaging technology. Their environmentally-friendly UV curing system delivers a near photographic result. The strong, vibrant and light-fast colours are perfect for outdoor or indoor use, so it's the ideal machine for Blue Star Direct's production of rigid signage.
